“Rio Grande Gorge", Pause for Beauty”- A few summers ago a fierce storm chased us as we headed south from Colorado into New Mexico along the Rio Grande River. We stopped many times to take pictures and this view was nearing the end of the day and the storm. It was a pause for beauty. 22X28 Oil on Canvas | |||

“Hopi House”, Oil,
16X20. The morning I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon it was just
after a storm in the night. My goal was to capture the mood of that early
morning moment. |

“Grand
Canyon of the Colorado”, Oil, 18X24.
Hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon was an adventure of a lifetime.
We crossed the river in the early morning light on our way back up to
the top as I captured this scene with my camera which I used as reference
for the painting. |

“Hopi
First Mesa”, Oil, 24X36. Visiting
Walpi Village on Hopi First Mesa near the Four Corners area of Arizona
was a thrilling experience. Since visitors are not allowed to photograph
or sketch the area, I had to research
and remember the colors of the day. |

“Shiprock”, Oil,
24X36. Driving north on New Mexico Hwy. 491 from Gallup to Farmington is
a surreal experience as the ‘ship’ begins to appear in your
vision, getting larger and larger as you drive by. This painting captures
the gigantic 7800 ft. high bow of a ship, changing as you drive from any
direction. The rock is what’s left of the interior of a volcano’s
plug. It’s
so dramatic I didn’t want to stop photographing and staring at it. |

“Sabino Canyon”,
Oil, 24X36. Sabino Canyon
is a wonderful place to visit just north of the city of Tucson. It’s
a favorite place for locals and visitors alike to rest by the stream
that comes from the nearby 9100 ft. Catalina Mountains. I love to paint
and photograph here several times a year. |
